- Hi, guys (& girls)!
-
- Got a little problem.
-
- A friend of mine has a modem, which behaves quite strangely. Usually
- when we give a command to the modem, we type "atdt 1234567", right?
- Well, this particular modem, when you type the above mentioned line,
- echos "atdd 1234567". Noticed the difference? The modem changed "t" into
- "d". Frequently, it can even change the line into "atdd 12!456". Isn't
- that strange?
-
- I checked the computer, did not find anything wrong. The memory chips
- were fine according to Norton Utility's memory check. The hard disk was
- really old, but not really in bad shape, so I couldn't suspect the hard
- disk. Specially, my friend has never find any writting errors in other
- programs. To see if the error is in hard disk, I wrote a script for the
- modem to read from memory directly, same thing. The modem repeatedly
- reads the letters or figures wrong.
-
- I wonder if anybody has run into the same kind of situation before. How
- can it be corrected?
-
- TIA
-
- Wei
